There’s nothing quite like a Tom Clancy crossover — and that is exactly what developer Ubisoft is hoping to provide with the reveal of Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands: The Call – Special Operations teaser. While not a ton of information about the upcoming event, we do know that the Ghosts will be “teaming up with a new partner” from the Tom Clancy’s Splinter Cell universe.

News comes by way of the teaser trailer below, which should throw you right back into your Splinter Cell nostalgia. Members of Third Echelon are on the line together, throwing around the usual codename “Matchwood.” Langley — as in Langely, VA — has “sprung a leak”; in other words, there is a mole in the CIA and they need Sam Fisher’s help to fix it by flying to Bolivia. He also notes that he has “friends in that neighborhood” and to call the ghosts.

It’s worth noting that nowhere does it ever expressly mention that Sam Fisher will be making an appearance in the event — in fact, the “friends” he is talking about may be instead characters from the broader Splinter Cell world. That said, this trailer seems heavy-handed in leading fans to believe there will be an official crossover.

And obviously, a re-emergence of Sam Fisher and the Splinter Cell IP is something fans have been clamoring for. The last game Ubisoft released in the series was Splinter Cell: Blacklist roughly a half-decade ago on the PC, PS3, Wii U, and Xbox 360. The dormancy have led people to worry about the series as a whole, with Ubisoft’s founder Yves Guillemont refusing to give substantial answers about the future of the series.

Of course, we will hear more about the crossover on April 9, 2018 when we get a “full briefing,” with the full event dropping on April 10, 2018 as the first part of the game’s second year of post-launch contentTom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Wildlands is available now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. And if you haven’t grabbed the game yet, Ghost Recon Wildlands is available for purchase at Amazon.
