There seems to be a war of attrition between Fallout 76 and German retailers. After a series of other questionable bundles, another retailer is packing the game in with Seagate Hard Drives.

News comes by way of Reddit, with an image surfacing of the Seagate 2TB hard drive coming bundled with a copy of Fallout 76. According to the bundle, the combo is going for 79€, or roughly $89.50:

Comparatively, in the US we can purchase the Seagate 2TB Game Drive for $89.86. So, by proxy German retailer Media Markt is practically paying you the $0.36 difference to take a copy of Fallout 76 off your hands. Yikes.

Anecdotally, the comment section of the post is pretty hilarious with employees from other German retailers explaining the push to liquidate the stock of consoles. Even as a free pack on, frequently employees will be put in a situation where they are “forcing” a free game on customers:

But not all of this is anecdotal, if you have been following the sales trends of the game. To start, we saw the Fallout 76 Xbox One X bundle come tied with a second copy of the game, which seemed like a plausible enough deal — give a copy to your friends so you can play together! Then there were less reasonable packages; namely GameStop Germany offering a new copy of Fallout 76 when customers bought a used DualShock 4 (no relation) controller for their PS4.

While it isn’t uncommon for games to have mega deals a few months after launch, this is generally an unprecedented wave of discounts specifically from Germany. It is worth wondering if the entire country over-ordered from publisher Bethesda Softworks.

It’s also not to say that the game is the only financial blow for a major gaming publisher. Keep in mind the PlayStation Classic has dipped well below 40% of its $100 asking price, with some retailers having far too much stock and pricing the hardware as such.

Regardless, Fallout 76 continues to improve on the weak launch with many series of updates and reassurement to existing players that the game is not going free-to-play, despite rumors.

Fallout 76 is currently available for PC, PS4, and Xbox One. If you for some reason want to pop into the game now and don’t live in Germany for crazy deals, you can order the game through Amazon.
