Whether Japanese games are “cool” or not depends a lot on who you’re talking to. Some consider them absolutely cool, others don’t. Lately, there has certainly been an increase in the former camp.

So what makes Japanese games “cool” for those who enjoy them? There are many factors in play, which have to do with creativity and even escapism from Japan’s strictly-regulated society. Today’s episode of our WeebCast is all about that.

As usual, Please keep in mind that this podcast is still in an experimental phase. Constructive criticism and suggestions are absolutely welcome and encouraged, so do leave them in the comments below. You can also let me know which themes you’d like to see covered in upcoming episodes.
