A spokesperson for Bethesda told USGamer how id Software’s DOOM will be able to run on the Nintendo Switch.

DOOM on Switch is custom-built for the hardware and while graphics won’t be 1:1 with other platforms, the game will deliver the amazing DOOM look and feel that fans are excited to get on Switch.”

It was also just revealed that the Switch version of the game won’t come with the SnapMap level editor. Furthermore, if you buy the physical version of the game, the cartridge will only have the campaign on it and you’ll have to download the multiplayer through a free update at launch.

Bethesda surprisingly announced both DOOM and Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus for the Switch during a Nintendo Direct earlier this week. Both games are big third-party titles for Nintendo and it’ll be interesting to see how the two fare on the handheld-console hybrid.

Another popular Bethesda title, Skyrim, also made an appearance during the Nintendo Direct, where it got a release date alongside a new trailer.

DOOM is available now on PS4, PC, and Xbox One. The Switch version will be available later this year. We reviewed the game back when it released in 2016, you can check that out by going right here.
