Recently, NIS America announced that the Falcom developed action RPG Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana will make its way onto Nintendo Switch at an unannounced date.

During a special Livestream hosted by the publisher, the team addressed questions regarding the Switch version of the game by saying that they aren’t ready to disclose any information about the Switch port at this time. However, they did let fans know that the recent re-localization of the game will be included on the Switch cartridge.

This won’t be the case for physical copies of the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita versions of the game. Instead, owners must download an update patch to get the re-localization that will require 279 MB for the Vita version and 1.16 GB for the PS4 version.

Having the re-localization on cartridge or disc is beneficial to owners because new owners will still have access to the patch even if for some reason the respective digital store gets shut down or NISA removes the update in the future.

The re-localization project began when pointed out mistakes that NISA had made in Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana’s English localization. Evidentally, the publisher that this was not up to par with the company’s standards. In October, NISA apologized for their mistake and decided to re-localize every line of text as well as record new audio with the original voice actors.

Ys VIII: Lacrimosa of Dana is available now for PS4 and PS Vita, with a PC port on the way.
