A YouTuber user by the name of Shadowlink4321 has recreated the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate opening using Melee’s theme and it’ll give you all sorts of feels. In the video’s description, Shadowlink says that he used a whole slew of Adobe editing programs as well as Source Filmmaker for some of the original scenes found within the video. You can check it out for yourself down below.

It’s not often I prefer fan projects over the actual in-game content, but in this case, I genuinely do like this opening. The original opening is a bit too slowly paced for my liking, and the Super Smash Bros. Melee song is just too great. For comparison, I’ve also included the original Melee opening courtesy of the YouTube channel SSBMTemple.

Fans have been getting really crafty with Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. One fan recently recreated a scene from Star Warswhile another recreated the opening to Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender

For more on Smash Bros. Ultimate, the game’s director, Masahiro Sakurai, recently gave insight into how Nintendo chooses the roster of third-party characters following the reveal of Persona 5’s Joker. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is available right now exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
