Well, we had heard rumors about it last week, and this morning, Microsoft has made it official.

The forthcoming Xbox Series X event that will be showing off first-party games that are planned to come to the platform is set to take place later this month on July 23. The news was announced via the Xbox Twitter account. The show, which is officially being called the Xbox Games Showcase, will take place at 9am PT/12pm ET with a pre-show hosted by Geoff Keighly set to transpire one hour earlier.

For now, the extent of our knowledge about the showcase simply includes the fact that 343 Industries will at long last be showing off Halo Infinite gameplay to the public. First unveiled back at E3 2018, all that we have seen of Infinite so far has come in the way of trailers that featured in-engine cutscenes and nothing else. Considering this will be the Series X’s biggest launch title (that we currently know about), Microsoft has a lot riding on this one.

We have also heard rumors that the Lockhart model of the Xbox Series X, which is said to be called the Xbox Series S, will not be showing up at this July event. Instead, Microsoft is reported to have another presentation planned for August where it will reveal this second next-gen console. So if you’re hoping to see Lockhart appear in a few weeks, maybe keep that anticipation in check for the moment.

Of course, once this event does take place on the 23rd, we’ll be here to share all of the latest news about the Xbox Series X with you hear on DualShockers. As for the console itself, it’s still planned to launch this holiday season at an undetermined date and price.
