Dave Mongan is a narrative director working at Xbox Game Studios Publishing, and his LinkedIn profile is now drawing a lot of attention as he reveals that there’s an unannounced AAA open-world title under development for Microsoft platforms.

As you may know, Xbox Game Studios Publishing often works with other external studios that based on some temporary contracts develop exclusive games for Microsoft platforms. The latest example of this is Microsoft Flight Simulator that was created by Asobo Studios, and Dave Mangon was a part of that project too. Now, he has mentioned in his LinkedIn profile that an unannounced AAA open-world game is his next project at Xbox Game Studios.

It’s yet to be known what the project is and which studio is in charge of such a big project. Microsoft has had some partnerships with many studios outside of the Xbox Studios family during the current generation. That being said, the number of studios that you can rely on for a large-scale open-world project is limited.

Recently, there were some rumors suggesting that Microsoft is looking for some new studios in Japan to acquire, but the news was rejected by Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, in a recent interview.

By acquiring Bethesda and ZeniMax, now Microsoft has a very big family of developers that all are united for delivering new experiences for all Xbox ecosystem users around the world. As confirmed by Phil Spencer and Satya Nadella, the Xbox Game Studios will still keep growing in the case of studios and we will see more acquisitions in the future.
