Microsoft has announced that Fable Anniversary is (finally) now playable on Xbox One via backwards compatibility.

Fable Anniversary is a re-release and remastered edition of the critically-acclaimed action role-playing game Fable, featuring updated visuals, new textures, and models, as well as a new lighting system, a refreshed interface, a new save system, Achievement support, and the Lost Chapters expansion.

Originally released on the original Xbox and PC in 2004, Fable takes place in the fictional world of Albion. Players control a young boy who dreams of becoming a Hero. Depending on the choices players make will affect how the characters of Albion will perceive their Hero. On top of that, their in-game decisions will also change the Hero’s appearance to mirror what good or evil deeds the Hero has done. Aside from tackling quests to uncover the truth of what happened to the Hero’s family, players also have the freedom to pursue optional side quests and other activities, such as trading and seeking romance.

If you owned a Xbox 360, as well as a copy of this title, you will be able to install it on your Xbox One, if not, the game is available on the Xbox Marketplace for $39.99.
