Microsoft has announced that its inclusive Xbox Adaptive Controller is now available for all to purchase whether through its own store or GameStop Online. While previously pre-orders were available, the unit will begin shipping out today. The adaptive controller costs $99.99 and features a wealth of customization for those who have a difficult time playing games using the standard controller.

The Xbox Adaptive Controller is a product that was ideated and pioneered with inclusivity at its heart. We iterated on and refined it through close partnership with gamers with limited mobility and fan feedback, as well as guidance and creativity from accessibility experts, advocates and partners such as The AbleGamers Charity, The Cerebral Palsy FoundationCraig Hospital, Special Effect and Warfighter Engaged.

As we’ve previously written, even the packaging itself is different from the standard, making it easier than ever to unbox.

Microsoft proudly shares stories about working with gamers across the globe to give feedback and helpful tips on how to make it fit their needs. Third party partners who are expanding the peripherals that are usable with the Adaptive Controller include RAM Mounts, Quadstick, Logitech, PDP, 3dRudder, AbleNet, and others. You may also link two controllers as one using the Copilot feature on Xbox One which is located under the Ease of Access settings.

The Xbox Adaptive controller was announced in May 2018 and went up for pre-order shortly after.
