Saber Interactive announced recently that the new co-op game World War Z had sold over 1 million copies within its first week. On their official Twitter account, Saber thanked everyone who supported the game and that they are hard at work making fixes to the game as well as releasing new content soon.
World War Z is available on both Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC exclusively on the Epic Games Store. PC players were specifically thanked for their support of World War Z. “We are humbled and thrilled by the immense success so far of World War Z, especially on PC thanks to the tremendous support of the Epic Games Store,” said Matthew Karch, CEO of Saber Interactive.
Epic responded to the 1 million copies sold on Twitter by announcing that the game had sold over 250 thousand copies on the Epic Games Store.
Congratulations to Saber Interactive on selling over 250,000 units of World War Z so far on the Epic Games store!
WWZ, Satisfactory, Anno 1800, Metro Exodus, Tom Clancy’s The Division 2 and so many more games made this a record weekend for Epic Games store. https://t.co/ZDo7wjmB5W

This is not the first time a game being exclusive to the Epic Games Store has helped defy expectations. Metro Exodus, another exclusive to the platform, sold over twice as well as its previous entry Metro: Last Light on Steam.
It will be interesting to see where a higher tiered game like Borderlands 3 will sell on EGS. Especially with all the controversy around the decision of having a timed exclusivity.
If you happen to be a fan of co-op shooters or more specifically a game like Left 4 Dead then World War Z might be the game for you. It is available now for $39.99.
