Every Friday, Xur appears somewhere in Destiny 2‘s universe randomly and trades with players until the weekly reset, which happens on Tuesdays. So, you will only have 5 days each week to trade with Xur, and you’d better find his location as soon as you can, rather than searching the whole planets for a clue of him.

When Does Xur Appears in Destiny 2?
He becomes available every Friday at 5 pm GMT/1 pm ET and leaves the next Tuesday at the same time.
Every week, Xur offers different types of things and you can know about his inventory until he appears in the game. That said, Xur is probably the best merchant to get Exotic items from.
