InXile Entertainment’s Wasteland 3 is one of the most anticipated tactical RPG titles of this year, which will be arriving later in Summer to complete the Wasteland trilogy with a much more compelling story, and a whole new world to explore. Thanks to the second episode of the game’s Dev Diary videos, now we have a lot of details on its story and characters to share with you.

Explained by Brian Fargo, studio head, and Nathan Long, senior writer, we get to know more about how things will be getting started in Wasteland 3, and what’s the point behind the new journey of the Rangers squad. After the events of Wasteland 2, Patriarch of Colorado reaches out to the Rangers squad, asking them to deal with a problem in Colorado, while getting help and resources from his community in turn.

As you start your journey in the snowy lands of post-apocalyptic Colorado, you will encounter different factions, each one with their own weird rules and beliefs. The decisions you make in every conversation in the game will have significant impacts on your path to a certain ending of the story among all the available endings.

According to Nathan Long, the development team is trying to deliver a more structured and cohesive story in Wasteland 3 compared to the departed novels of the previous game. For the first time, InXile will be using the first-person view during certain key conversations in the game, giving you a better understanding of the characters’ body gestures in response to your decisions. This time around, there will be more twists in the story, encouraging players to dig into every character to find out who is really a friend, and who is just a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Wasteland 3 is set to be released for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on August 28. The game will be available on Xbox Game Pass at launch.
