Valkyria Chronicles 4 First Nintendo Switch Gameplay Revealed, Delayed to Fall in Japan; Original Valkyria Chronicles Announced

News, Originals, Platforms, Sega, Switch, Valkyria Chronicles, Valkyria Chronicles 4

Today, during a broadcast from SegaFes in Akihabara, Tokyo Sega finally provided the first look at the upcoming Nintendo Switch version of Senjou no Valkyria 4: Eastern Front or Valkyria Chronicles 4 as it’ll be named in the west.

The game was showcased in handheld mode filmed from the screen, even if of course it’s still in development.

Interestingly, we also get the announcement that the original Valkyria Chronicles will be released for the Switch in Japan this fall exclusively on the eShop. It’ll cost 1,990 yen (about $18.5), but those who will purchase the initial print of Valkyria Chronicles 4 for Switch will get a ticket that will enable them to get the first game for 500 yen (the “one coin” price in Japan, which translates to roughly $4.5). Of course, all the original DLC will be included in the package.

Considering how good the original game is, that’s a hell of a good deal.

Unfortunately, the Switch version of Valkyria Chronicles 4 has also been delayed to the fall in Japan, and the two games will release nearly at the same time. At the moment we don’t have any information on whether this will have any influence on the western release for the Switch since the game is already scheduled for the fall in North America and Europe for all platforms. The price in Japan of the Switch version will be 7,490 yen (about $70) plus taxes.

The PS4 version of Valkyria Chronicles 4 has already been released in Japan, while the western release will happen in the fall for PS4, Xbox One, and Switch. You can already pre-order it on Amazon for all platforms.
