Valkyria Chronicles 4 Announced for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One

News, Originals, PC, PS4, Switch, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Xbox One

Over the past few days, Sega has been teasing a new Valkyria game, and the promised moment of its reveal has finally come: it’s Valkyria Chronicles 4.

The game will be released in the west for PS4, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox One, and will come in 2018.

For Japan, the title will be the usual Senjo no Valkyria 4 (which translates as Valkyria of the Battlefield 4), and it will release for PS4 on March 21st and for Nintendo Switch later in Summer 2018.

The Valkyria Chronicles series debuted in 2008 for PS3, quickly earning acclaim from critics and fans due to its tactical gameplay and its top-notch story, characters, and visuals. It gave birth to two sequels on PSP in 2010 and 2011, but unfortunately, Sega never localized the third game. After that, the first game received two remasters on PC and PS4, which are definitely awesome.

Recently, Sega also released a spin-off named Valkyria Revolution. While it was enjoyable, it came with a completely different genre and world. It ultimately failed to live up to the series legacy.

I don’t know about you, but as a massive fan of the Valkyria Chronicles series, the past week has been a rather nervous one. While announcing a new mainline game seemed a no-brainer, publishers often surprise us with choices that appear inexplicable.

Yet, this time around we have what I’m sure almost everyone wanted. Valkyria Chronicles 4 is coming, and I couldn’t be happier.

You can check out the announcement trailer below, and if you want to know more (and why wouldn’t you?) you can also read the first detail and screenshots.
