Ubisoft’s smash hit Just Dance 2019, who have slowly implemented a subscription-based service plus an annual fee to access some of the game’s content, has come under fire recently for a different matter this time.
Reddit user and mother darkheartsmd has taken to the internet in concern over her six-year-old being repeatedly being asked, while in kids mode, to subscribe to its streaming service in order to play songs shown in the menus. In kids mode, parents are supposed to feel safe in the knowledge that their kids don’t succumb to messages like this or anything else for that matter.

Eurogamer got straight onto the heels of Ubisoft and asked for a statement in regards to this issue and what they had to say for themselves, which they thankfully did via email –
“We realised that the labelling of the content in-game and more especially the difference between what’s included on the cartridge/disc and what’s available in the Just Dance Unlimited streaming service in the Just Dance Kids mode could be confusing for our players. We never intended to create an uncomfortable situation for parents”.
“Just Dance is a game that’s meant to be accessible for everyone, and it’s really important for us to provide a protective and safe environment for all of our players, including families. We are currently working hard on solving this issue as soon as possible.”
Reportedly, this seems to be an issue that only occurs in North America currently with no further reports of this happening elsewhere. With the internet already giving parents anxiety, this kind of news does not help ease the minds of families across the world, especially with a game mode that is specifically aimed at young children, but hopefully, Ubisoft will right this wrong very soon, if they haven’t done so already.
