No More Heroes is making its long overdue comeback, and according to multiple online retailers, Travis Touchdown’s newest outing will also have a physical release. Travis Strikes Again will be distributed by Nintendo, with the physical edition also including a season pass.

Developer Grasshopper Manufacture tells Gematsu that this season pass will include another character, an additional story scenario, and a stage. At this point, no specifics about this content is publicly known. Some found listings for the physical game on retailers such as Amazon earlier in the month, but the comment to Gematsu was the first official confirmation.

To some, Travis Strikes Again heralds the triumphant return of the cult classic series that began on the Wii. To others, this new entry feels like a stopgap before a “proper” third game, with Travis Strikes Again deviating from the gameplay of the two prior games. The fact that the game pays homage to independent games, and with director Suda51 considering Grasshopper to be an independent studio, this new game feels more like (or at least presented as) an indie title.

That isn’t to denigrate indie games in any way—it just may not be what some fans are looking for. The style of Travis Strikes Again is largely in line with the previous video game homages of the older No More Heroes games, and fans will likely take what they can get. Grasshopper, like most indie studios, are self-publishing the title.

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes will release digitally and physically on January 18, 2019, exclusively for Nintendo Switch. Check out our most recent interview with Suda51 here. You can pre-order the physical game on Amazon through this link.
