Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 is was revealed in a weird way, having the face of the game texting everyone just before jumping into an interview with Geoff Keighley. Since then, we’ve had a look at what we know so far, but the news keeps on coming. Skaters in the game will be how they look now for example, and the soundtrack is available to listen to. It’s also revealed that there won’t be microtransactions.

Speaking to Gamespot, Jen Oneal the boss at Vicarious Visions clarified that there will be no microtransactions for the upcoming title that’s due to land on Xbox One, PS4, and PC exclusively for the Epic Games Store. “Everything that you see at launch is going to be unlocked with gameplay. We’re not planning on having monetization at launch,” she explained. However, while the game’s launch will be microtransactions free, Oneal says that Vicarious Visions might consider implementing microtransactions later down the road.

Additionally, post-launch may see Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 getting cross-platform play. While this isn’t 100% confirmed, Oneal does say “When the time comes we will say more,” which could indicate that it’s a feature they’re looking into. Activision has already started introducing cross-platform play into other titles such as Call of Duty: Modern Warfare and also its free-to-play Battle Royale version Warzone.

Player’s interested in grabbing the game can pre-order it, which will also grant them access to a pre-release demo set in the iconic warehouse level. As for gameplay, Jack Black was able to play a pre-release sample. What do you think of possible microtransactions? If anything, if it is implemented it’s clearly going to be for additional cosmetics to kit your skater out with, perhaps even some special edition skateboarders.

Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 and 2 will launch for PS4, Xbox One, and PC for Epic Games Store in September 2020.
