Today, developer Respawn Entertainment and publisher EA announced and revealed the 6th free DLC drop for its first-person shooter Titanfall 2 called The War Games. Additionally, Respawn also revealed that across the original Titanfall (which launched back in March 2014) and Titanfall 2 (which just hit last fall) the series has seen 20 million players, which doesn’t mean 20 million copies sold, just that 20 million different accounts have at least hit the game’s main menu.

Launching on October 28th last year (so almost 10 months ago), apparently Titanfall 2 is still going relatively strong, with over one million monthly active players.

Arriving on June 27th, The War Games perhaps most notably will add two new maps, one which is a Livefire map. The Livefire map is called Traffic and is described as a weathered test site where pilot positioning is pitted against mobility across two busy thoroughfares. Further, it features dense cover that makes every corner a threat, with room for snipers to chill in the background and enrage people.

As for the non-Livefire map, it’s simply called War Games. The following description of it is provided:

War Games highlights the civilian shops, tall buildings for window-to-window fighting, and city streets for Titan combat from the Battle of Angel City, and the large, open tank garage facilities for hand-to-hand Pilot combat from the Battle of Airbase Sierra. The outskirts of the map feature a clean, VR style perfect for Titan duels, while Pilots are often found running along the bright, interconnected wallrunning routes.

The DLC will also add a new execution Shadow Boxing [Holo Pilot], a 3rd weapon slot for pilots, the addition of Titan Brawl to the permanent list of games modes (Titan Damage will be displayed instead of assists), and a new featured mode: Free Agents.

More additional balance changes, features, and updates will be provided in patch notes closer to launch.

Titanfall 2 is available on PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Looking ahead, the next free bit of DLC will hit in July and will apparently be “huge” and include the long-awaited return of a favorite mode from the original Titanfall. Looking even further ahead, the game will support Xbox One X, meaning 4K resolution for increased fidelity as well as support for dynamic super scaling.
