BAFTA Young Game Designer winner, Dan Smith, and publisher, Ripstone Games, are finally bringing their complex color-coded puzzler, The Spectrum Retreat to the Nintendo Switch on September 13th, a game that was previously released on PC, PS4, and Xbox One.

Dan Smith needs no introduction, but just in case you haven’t heard of him before, Dan won his first BAFTA Young Game Designers Award in 2016 when he was only 18 years old. Since then he has gone from strength to strength with publisher Ripstone Games partnering up with him to make The Spectrum Retreat.

The Spectrum Retreat places players into the shoes of a guest at an extremely weird and surreal hotel called The Penrose, where nothing is as it seems. You’ve no idea why or how you got here, but apparently, it’s been a long time. Quite understandably, you want to get the hell out of here, but to do that you need to solve a lot of puzzles, complex color-coded puzzles, in an effort to uncover the true purpose of The Penrose and to escape.

Developer and Designer Dan Smith says:

“Developing The Spectrum Retreat took up nearly a quarter of my life, launching it earlier this year was a massive moment for me and I’m delighted that Nintendo Switch owners will finally get a chance to experience it.”

In June, The Spectrum Retreat gave us an eleven-minute look of gameplay with developer Dan Smith talking us through the various stages of play.

The Spectrum Retreat will release on the Nintendo Switch September 13th, where it will cost £9.99 / €12.99 / $12.99; the game will be available in Europe and North America, with a release in Germany and Russia to follow later in 2018.
