If you’ve been out of the loop, Nihon Falcom just announced three games part of the Trails/Kiseki JRPG series this week. A brand new PS4 game titled The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki, and two PS4 remasters, The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki: Kai and The Legend of Heroes: Ao no Kiseki: Kai. On December 19, our comrades at Dengeki Online published a video interview with Falcom President Toshihiro Kondo. We fully translated the part of the interview focusing on Hajimari no Kiseki. As for Zero no Kiseki: Kai and Ao no Kiseki: Kai, Toshihiro Kondo explained these PS4 remasters were made to facilitate western releases.

In the interview, Toshihiro Kondo started by explaining how Zero no Kiseki and Ao no Kiseki are currently only available on portable consoles, the PSP and the PS Vita. However, there are many fans who wish to play these games on PlayStation 4. Kondo most notably added that the two Crossbell games never released in English. The games only being on old portable consoles makes it hard for them to get western releases, and it’s one of the reasons behind these PS4 remasters.

There’s also the fact that the next game, Hajimari no Kiseki will show how Crossbell reattained independence, and the Crossbell games are ten years old now. So Kondo argued there might be fans who wish to replay them before playing Hajimari no Kiseki. These PS4 remasters are also geared toward players who started the Trails/Kiseki series with the Trails of Cold Steel games. Lastly, Falcom also wishes for old-time fans to replay Zero and Ao no Kiseki in order to realize just how much foreshadowings were in these games.

Back when Zero no Kiseki: Kai and Ao no Kiseki: Kai were teased but not officially announced yet, Toshihiro Kondo told DualShockers the games might get western releases. You can read the full interview here. Falcom also wishes to make a new Ys Vs Kiseki game.

The Legend of Heroes: Zero no Kiseki: Kai and The Legend of Heroes: Ao no Kiseki: Kai will launch on PS4 in Spring 2020 in Japan. The Legend of Heroes: Hajimari no Kiseki will launch on PS4 in Summer 2020 in Japan.
