Just announced, the upcoming Division 2 expansion, Warlords of New York, will bring agents back to the city where it all began. While some games re-imagine real-life areas, Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment’s new map is a 1:1 representation of Lower Manhattan.

While talking to Ubisoft Leamington and Reflections Producer Nick Scurr, I asked if Warlords of New York would feature a 1:1 recreation of Lower Manhattan. He did happily confirm the map will be, but due to a natural disaster, it may not look as recognizable as you may think.

“It is a 1:1 recreation of that area of Manhattan! So, in Division 1, that was not the case. But when we went to Washington, D.C., we had the goal of doing that so, Washington D.C. was 1:1. And then, of course, coming to Manhattan, with the four main zones we have, they are 1:1 recreations of those areas,” says Scurr. “They might not look quite the same because, obviously, a hurricane swept in and really changed the landscape. But if you’re familiar with those areas in New York City, then you’re going to see famous places like Chinatown, Wall Street, and maybe even the Statue of Liberty off the shore.”

The four main zones Scurr is referring to are Battery Park, Civic Center, Two Bridges, and Financial District. These are the areas that make up Division 2: Warlords of New York‘s Lower Manhattan map. While I’ve never been to New York myself, it’s still pretty wild Ubisoft and Massive Entertainment are creating a 1:1 recreation of Lower Manhattan. Now, I’ll never have to visit New York, right?

The Division 2 expansion, Warlords of New York, will be available for Xbox One, PS4, and PC on March 3. I recently had the opportunity to check out a slice of the expansion, and have a preview up right now with my thoughts on the agents’ return to New York.
