With the release of The Banner Saga 3 this summer, developer Stoic Studio brought the final chapter of its acclaimed trilogy of strategy RPGs to players with an epic conclusion, but the third game in the series may not necessarily be the end of what we see from the series, according to the studio.

Speaking with DualShockers, Stoic Studio co-founder Arnie Jorgensen shared a bit more on the studio’s direction following the release of The Banner Saga 3 this past July, in particular highlighting some of the ways that the studio plans to revisit the game’s world beyond its acclaimed trilogy of strategy-RPG titles.

According to Jorgensen, one of those ways may be through an animated series set in the world of The Banner Saga, which Jorgensen explained was “the biggest plea that our community has had” in regard to new projects based on the series. While Jorgensen didn’t give specifics on whether or not an animated series is officially happening just yet, he did state that the project was being looked into “right now” by the studio with several “interested partners” in creating and producing the series.

Aside from an animated series, Jorgensen also detailed that the studio is also exploring other ways to expand on The Banner Saga‘s story and characters through other mediums, such as a potential tabletop game, and new novels set in the series’ world from author James Fadeley, who wrote The Banner Saga: The Gift of Hadrborg.

The Banner Saga 3 is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, PC, and Mac, and will be coming to iOS and Android later this year.
