It’s been a while since we’ve gotten a Maximus Cup in Tetris 99. If you haven’t been around for the last 11, each Maximus Cup is a weekend-long event where Tetris 99 players can compete to win points. If you earn enough, you can unlock a special theme tied to the Cup. From April 24 to 27, users can play to win a new Ring Fit Adventure theme. Give it a look below.

Each Maximus Cup brings a new reward to Tetris 99. Most of the time, it’s a new theme for hit games like Pokemon Sword and Shield or Luigi’s Mansion 3. However, several have also rewarded the top 999 players with 999 My Nintendo Gold Points. The latter is a bit more competitive as only a select few are able to win anything. Granted, you still have to compete to earn the theme, but anyone who clears the 100-point threshold gets the theme. It’s a gentler approach to competitive Tetris.
If you’re interested in hopping in, Tetris 99 is available now on Nintendo Switch. The game comes with your Nintendo Switch Online package, so anyone using that service already has access. The team has added quite a bit to the game since release. Personally, I’m a huge fan of the offline CPU battles. It gives you an easy way to learn the basics of Tetris battle royale without the pressure of living opponents. If you find yourself with some extra downtime this weekend, jump in and see what all the fun is about. It can be a stressful game, but Tetris 99 is incredibly fun when you get in that perfect Tetris zone.
