Today Nintendo Italy announced via press release that the Switch has achieved “exceptional” sales results in the Mediterranean country.
According to the announcement, the Switch is now the fastest-selling Nintendo console of all time in Italy, overtaking the Wii’s first ten months on the shelves. The console that brought motion controls under the spotlight previously used to hold the record.
Nintendo Italy General Manager Andrea Persegati accompanied the press release with a statement, mentioning that sales of the Switch have been very satisfying, and the company is confident that this success is going to extend into 2018, thanks to a mix of important upcoming titles like Kirby Star Allies, Bayonetta 2, Dragon Quest Builders, and a new Yoshi game, and a quality existing lineup including The Legend of Zelda Breath of The Wild, Super Mario Odyssey, ARMS, Splatoon 2, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, and Xenoblade Chronicles 2.
The announcement also boasted over 300 third-party titles and a consistent flow of indie games coming to the console.
This comes just a few days after Nintendo of America announced that the Switch is now the fastest-selling console of all time in the United States. The console also had an amazing Holiday season in Japan, where it just passed the cumulative lifetime sales of the Wii U.
