Announced at the Kinda Funny Showcase, Super Meat Boy Forever will be launching in April 2019. While it is coming to Nintendo Switch, PS4, and Xbox One during that window, the upcoming game will be an Epic Store exclusive which means no Steam release for an entire year.

On the game’s official Discord channel, the Super Meat Boy creator Tommy Refenes gave his reason behind the exclusivity. “I understand people don’t like change,” he writes referring to Steam’s dominance as many people’s one-stop shop for PC gaming. He continues, “the Epic platform is desperately needed to get Steam to give a shit.”

Refenes did have other nice things to say about the new video game storefront considering the drastically different revenue splits between both Steam and Epic; Steam takes between 20 to 30 percent of revenue from developers while Epic takes 12 percent. Once again on the Discord, Refenes says this is a “small price to pay for a developer community that doesn’t feel like they have one choice on PC.”

He also gives the new storefront credit saying “they are taking this seriously… they want it to succeed.” He also seems confident that the Epic Games Store will not just be beneficial for developers continuing his statement, “…so they’re going to try to make it the best experience for players as well.”

The Epic Game Store launched just a few days ago featuring games like Ashen, Hello Neighbor: Hide and Seek, and Supergiant Games new title, Hades. A trailer was released alongside its launch spotlighting the aforementioned games, as well as Journey, Genesis: Alpha One, Outer Wilds, and more.

Super Meat Boy Forever was just one of many games shown at the Kinda Funny Games Showcase. A total of 69 games were shown during the show, some of which releasing following the stream.

First announced during the Nindies Summer Showcase 2017, Super Meat Boy Forever is the next game from Team Meat. The difficulty will perpetually increase as you progress through each level with the fast-paced mechanics many have come to know and love.
