From now until December 27, 2018, you can pick up Subnautica on the Epic Games store for free.

Developed by Unknown Worlds Entertainment, Subnautica is a first-person open-world survival game. As depicted in the game’s cinematic trailer (look below), you’ll crash land on an ocean planet known as 4546B where you’ll have to fend for yourself in a vast underwater world. You’ll craft new equipment, build a base, and fight off dangerous alien sea creatures in order to survive.

Similar to Xbox’s Games with Gold or PlayStation’s free Plus games, Epic Games store will offer a free game every two weeks. The first is the aforementioned Subnautica with Super Meat Boy to follow. The popular platformer will be free starting on December 28, 2018 with the offer ending on January 10, 2019.

The Epic Games store is Epic’s answer to Steam. Announced earlier in the month, the new storefront will offer an 88/12 percent split between the developers and Epic Games. Yes, that means 88 percent of the revenue made will be going to developers. To get an idea of how big this is for developers, Steam takes about 20 to 30 percent of revenue.

The Epic Games store launched just last week with a fairly limited selection of games. As of this writing, you can pick up Ashen, Hades (early access), Hello Neighbor: Hide & Seek, Darksiders 3, Subnautica, Shadow Complex, Unreal Tournament, and of course, that sweet, sweet Fortnite. The only game available to pre-purchase is Genesis: Alpha One while games like Rebel Galaxy Outlaw, Outer Wilds, and Journey will be coming to the new storefront “soon.”

Subnautica is available right now on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Mac.
