Insomniac Games took to Twitter today with a small but interesting piece of information on its upcoming game Marvel’s Spider-Man.

Today was the second day of a studio-wide playtest session, during which, according to developers who also chimed in on social media, the whole studio is getting to try the current build of the game out.

If you’re eager to read what they thought, here are a few comments from developers involved:

If you’re interested in seeing what the game’s tile looks like on a PS4 development kit, we also get a picture, which you can see below. Keep in mind that we don’t know if the icon is final or not.

While we can only speculate, this kind of large playtest sessions are normally held just before or after reaching a major developmet milestone. That being said, you shouldn’t be tricked into believing that the game is complete or close to. Playtesting is normally done during several stages of development, so we can’t really take away from this any specific information about how close the game is to release.

On top of the info on the playtesting session, Insomniac hinted that its presence at GDC probably doesn’t imply that we’ll see unreleased footage of the game.

Another interesting element comes from Art Director Jacinda Chew, who mentioned that Peter Parker’s web-shooter bracelets were designed by an industrial designer, in case they get manufactured.

If you want to learn more about Marvel’s Spider-Man, you can also enjoy the latest comments from the development team a new video released at PlayStation Experience, a rather large amount of details shared by Insomniac a few weeks ago, a recent batch of screenshots in 4K resolution, and the latest story trailer. Speaking of developers, Rise of the Tomb Raider Game Director Brian Horton just joined Insomniac Games to work on Marvel’s Spider-Man as Design Director.

The game will release in 2018 exclusively for PS4.
