Today, Image & Form Games dropped more news about SteamWorld Dig 2. The game will be coming to PS4 and PS Vita with release dates for later this month.
Community Manager Julius Guldbog posted more new information on PlayStation’s blog about what players can expect in SteamWorld Dig 2.
On the blog post, Guldbog shared five specific pieces of information which include a new protagonist, new companions, new upgrades, a larger map, and a dope musical backdrop featuring a soundtrack produced by Hotline Miami composer, El Huervo.
You can listen to a track in our previous post.
Sidekick Dorothy McCrank has taken over as the main character. In the original SteamWorld Dig game, Rusty was the hero to save the day. Dorothy has made it her mission to step up to the plate and set out on a new challenging journey.
Along the way, players will encounter characters that have “their own personalities, quirks, and purposes.” While some will be helpful, others will try to get in Dorothy’s way. It’s up to the players to decipher between who’s a friend or foe.
As Dorothy continues on her journey, new upgrades will play a crucial role as they’re bigger, better, and push the players into uncharted territory. The axiom of the game is to dig your way into the underground scene with a pickaxe but players will get to experience a cool upgrade, the ability to fly using a Jet Engine. Out of reach objects and treasures can be obtained with a new Hookshot, pretty self-explanatory right?
The game will now have a large landscape to explore full of treasures and tricky traps. Adding a larger map means a longer gaming experience, players will have at least 10 hours of gameplay or possibly more, which depends on how much of a completionist you may be.
SteamWorld Dig 2 will be available on Nintendo Switch on September 21 then PS4 and PS Vita on the 26th in North America and on the 27th in Europe. The game is marked at a price of $19.99 and will also be cross-buy on Sony’s consoles. Check out the screen shots below.
