State of Decay 2 Shows Off 25 Minutes of Co-op Multiplayer in Gameplay Footage

Anyone following gaming press should expect a lot of news about State of Decay 2 in the next few months. Not only is developer Undead Labs’ zombie game ramping up to a May 22 release date, but the game is part of publication IGN’s “IGN First” program — a form of marketing blitz via publication-exclusive news briefings. And to the benefit of all, this blitz includes some of the longest gameplay footage we’ve seen on the open-world survival game.

Seen in the footage below uploaded by IGN, the game shows off 25 minutes of four-player cooperative play. Swapping between all four players, you see the team take on the streets and beat down zombies, all while looting cars, buildings, and any bodies they can. It appears that — as expected with most zombie titles — the name of the game is crowd control, so you aren’t overwhelmed by the undead hordes.

Outside of the actual mechanics of gameplay, we see a few different environments and how gameplay gets generally more tense when night rolls in. Outside of on-foot wandering, there is a fair amount of driving peppered in to give some added mobility. Oh, and scratching the unquenchable urge to run down every brain-eater in sight.

More information about State of Decay 2 is undoubtedly on the way, given it is one of the biggest Microsoft releases coming out this season — let alone this Spring. Outside of the release date announcement, we also learned lately that State of Decay 2 will be part of the updated Xbox Game Pass alongside other major titles like Crackdown 3whenever that game comes out.

As mentioned above, Undead Labs’ State of Decay 2 is set to launch for PC and Xbox One on May 22, 2018. If you are interested in some zombie killing, rip-roaring cooperative gameplay, check out the IGN-provided gameplay vide below:
