State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition launched for Xbox One and Steam, and a brand new launch gameplay trailer released alongside it. The trailer depicts the various zombie types in all their disgusting, rotting glory as the survivors comes together to launch their assault against the undead threat.

You can watch the launch trailer posted just below:

According to its official description: “State of Decay 2: Juggernaut Edition re-imagines the popular zombie game as a brand-new experience for both new and veteran players. This edition is packed with new updates including remastered graphics, a new tutorial, a new open-world map and new heavy weapons to bust zombie heads.”

Back in February Developer Undead Labs announced that they would be launching an updated version of State of Decay 2 to coincide with the game’s launch on Steam. The new edition includes tons of upgrades and improvements, along with all the previously released content for the hit game, as well as a new world map that’s “inspired by the Pacific Northwest.” The Juggernaut Edition also comes with all the add-on packs released for State of Decay 2 so far, which means the story campaign Heartland, the siege-style Daybreak, and the Independence Pack are all included.

Undead Labs was acquired by Microsoft in 2018 shortly after the release of State of Decay 2. Outside of the occasional major update, the studio has been fairly quiet post-acquisition until now. And although Undead Labs is based in Seattle, last year they revealed that they would be opening up a new studio in New Orleans. Said new studio, headed up by Jeff Strain the founder of the company, was founded to support fledgling developers.

“As anyone who has played State of Decay knows, big ideas don’t always come from the biggest cities or the flashiest neighborhoods. Sometimes the heroes come from places like Marshall or Spencer’s Mill,” according to Undead Labs’ official post. “That’s why game development needs a bigger base, where the know-how, grit, and ideas of even more people can find their way to the public. As a small-town guy himself, Jeff is dedicated to opening a new studio and a partnered broad-discipline game development academy in New Orleans, Louisiana.”
