Hopefully, you weren’t looking forward to picking up the remaster of Star Wars Episode 1: Racer tomorrow, because as of now, the game will no longer be arriving.

Announced at nearly the very last minute, developer Aspyr revealed on Twitter this afternoon that Star Wars Episode 1: Racer has been pushed back from its May 12 launch date on both PS4 and Switch. The reason for the delay is said to be because of “ongoing work from home requirements” that have come about in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. A future release date for the port wasn’t given, but more news is said to be coming as soon as possible.

As mentioned, it’s truly bizarre to see a game delayed a mere 24-hours before it was supposed to arrive. If Aspyr wasn’t going to be able to deliver the game on-time, you imagine that we would’ve heard something more concrete regarding the game’s release date far sooner. To push Star Wars Episode 1: Racer back so close to its arrival is definitely weird, even if it isn’t that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things. This is just a remaster of a Nintendo 64 game, after all.

We’ll keep you up to date on the future launch date of Star Wars Episode 1: Racer for both PS4 and Switch once we hear more.
