Splatoon 2’s January Splatfest Pits Two Film Genres Against One Another

If you’re still kicking around in Splatoon 2 like me, you’ll probably be very happy to hear that Nintendo has revealed the latest Splatfest event coming to the game this month. For the first time, Splatoon 2 will pit two popular film genres against one another, action and comedy.

Like every Splatfest, players will have the opportunity to choose their respective sides a few days prior to the actual event. In North America, the event will kick off on January 12 around 8:00 p.m. PT. In Japan, on the other hand, the event will begin at 3:00 p.m. on January 13. For Europe, the event will begin on next Saturday at 12:00 U.K. time.

In other Splatoon 2 news, the game received two major updates before the end of the year. The first of the two dropped back in late November. It added in four new competitive multiplayer maps, a bunch of new weapons, a Salmon Run stage, additional hairstyles, gear and much more. The second dropped in late December and added in a brand new competitive multiplayer mode. Even with all of these new additions, Nintendo has added more weapons as well as some minor bug fixes. Finally, Splatoon 2’s pink and green Joy-Con are reportedly going to be sold at retailers across the U.S. sometime this month.

Be sure to let us know down below which side you’ll be aligning with. Personally, the choice is easy for me, action over comedy any day. Splatoon 2 is available right now exclusively on the Nintendo Switch.
