Today Bandai Namco Entertainment Japan released a batch of new screenshots of its upcoming Souls-like JRPG Code Vein.

The screenshots are complementary to those released by the American branch of the company a few days ago giving another look on similar topics.

We also get more information, adding to what was revealed before. At the beginning of the game, our hero (or heroine) will have to fight a battle against the army of the Queen forming a team with Jack. The first enemies we’ll fight are the Queen’s scouts, that come either armed with swords or halberds. After that, we’ll face off against the Queen’s Knight boss.

A fight against the Queen herself will follow, but this appears to be a cutscene. The Governor Gregorio Silva will also appear, aiding Jack and the Hero. Unfortunately the hero’s mask is ripped away, and he is engulfed by the aura of the Queen, which threatens to turn him into a Lost. Jack decides to end his suffering by shooting him, causing him to fall into a canyon.

We also learn more about Luis’ sister Karen, who was one of the researcher working on experimenting on the Queen.  She was killed during the battle against her, and was reborn as a revenant. Her task is to assist revenants returning from apparent death. Revenants die and resurrect many times in their endless struggle against the Queen, and Karen supervises their regeneration.

We also learn more about the Queen herself. Last time we learned that her true name is Cruz. Her full name is actually Cruz Silva, and she is the daughter of Gregorio Silva himself. She endured the painful experiments willingly to help humanity until a failure caused her to run away. She also used to be Louis’ schoolmate.

We also learn about mistletoe, a plant with the power to purify the air from the Queen’s aura, and to help Revenants in their regeneration.

Last, but not least, we see more of the multiplayer co-op feature, and more precisely emotes and stamps.
