SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy’s Japanese Trailer Is Completely Different from Western Nintendo Direct

News, Originals, Platforms, PS4, SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy, Switch

This morning I was finally taking some time to check out the Japanese Nintendo Direct Mini aired yesterday, because let’s be honest, the Japanese ones are simply more fun. About halfway through it,  something jumped to my eyes: the Japanese trailer showcased for SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy is completely different from the one shown in the North American and European broadcasts.

The speaker immediately sets the tone of the Japanese trailer by mentioning that the game is a “gathering of SNK’s sexy and cute heroines.” In English, “sexy and cute” turns into “fan-favorite.”

Yet, that’s not even close to the only difference. All the way through the trailer, the heroines showcased in the Japanese version wear much sexier outfits than the ones included in the English one, to the point that the tone of the two videos is nothing alike.

It’s worth mentioning, though, that the images of the English version of the game released by NIS America (that will publish the game in the west) via press release do include the sexy outfits. It appears that we aren’t looking at actual cuts or alteration to the game, as much as a different way to market the game for the western market compared to the Japanese market.

We also don’t know whether the decision to present such a different trailer came from Nintendo, NIS America, or SNK itself. We contacted NIS America seeking a clarification on these points, and we’ll let you know if we hear back.

In the meanwhile, you can check out the two versions of the trailer below. Just play them both at the same time to see the extent of the changes.

SNK Heroines Tag Team Frenzy will launch on Nintendo Switch and PS4 in summer 2018.
