It’s no hidden secret that Activision likes to add microtransactions into their games. But more infamously, the company has been trying to sneak in absurd microtransactions into Call of Duty titles over the years and Black Ops 4 is certainly no exception. Now, Michael Condrey, the co-founder of Sledgehammer Games, has spoken out about how they were implemented in his game vs Treyarch’s and let’s just say he doesn’t sound all too impressed with how it’s being handled.

Replying to a Twitter user that was…let’s just say calling him out, Condrey explained that, at least when it came to Advanced Warfare, Sledgehammer wanted to give players new ways to earn items. He also reminded people that Supply Drops could only be earned via in-game rewards when the game originally launched, before quickly stating “$30 for a melee weapon? Not on my watch.”

For those that don’t know, this is in reference to a brand new hammer melee weapon that was added to Call of Duty: Black Ops 4. This in and of itself wouldn’t be too out of the ordinary if it weren’t for the fact that the hammer costs players $30 since it’s exclusively a part of a bundle.

The melee weapon itself was added during this week’s 1.16 update, which also added in new equipment to Blackout and a new Zombies map for Black Ops Pass owners.

If you want to check out the tweet, and by extension the whole conversation, for yourself, you can find it at the end of the article.

Call of Duty: Black Ops 4 is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Windows PC. If you want to pick up the game on Amazon, you can do so by clicking here.
