Shovel Knight Surpasses 2 Million Copies Sold Across All Platforms

Yacht Club Games announced a sales milestone for Shovel Knight as well as provides details on how the game sold across multiple platforms.

First off the developer reminds fans how 18 months after the original release of Shovel Knight, the retro-style platforms surpasses one million copies sold. Now, 26 months after the release of the game and its multiple DLC characters, the game has surpassed 2 million copies sold.

Just to highlight everything that happened across those 26 months, the developer details everything the studio has released for the Shovel Knight IP:

We released the Shovel Knight amiibo, our newest campaign Specter of Torment, launched on Switch, brought Battletoads to PC, made co-op playable on all platforms, created an art book, wrote 4 Shovel Knight books, published Gunvolt,  Body-swapped Shovel Knight’s campaign, released Vita physical, localized the game to Japanese, Brazilian Portuguese, and Russian.

Additionally, after the game received so many releases, the developer had changed the name to Shovel Knight: Treasure Trove, increased the price, and provided two separate standalone releases.

So to give a better insight on the exact sales of the game across the multiple platforms, we get to see a fancy pie chart with all the relative information as of March 1, 2018:

An important note would be to see that since the release of the Nintendo Switch version, Shovel Knight has sold 370k units on the platform, with Windows being the highest selling platform. The developer adds that the Nintendo Switch version sold faster than any other platform.
