Back when Shadow of the Tomb Raider was revealed in March, we learned that this game would focus on “Lara Croft’s defining moment as she becomes the Tomb Raider.” Today, we learned more about what that statement actually means in a new video covering the evolution of Lara Croft in the rebooted Tomb Raider series.

At the beginning of the reboot series, Lara Croft was in denial about her father’s discoveries, but came to accept them by the end of the first game. Then, in Rise of the Tomb Raider, she is trying to restore her father and his discoveries’ reputation. She goes off on her own by the end, but is still quite brash, which comes into play in Shadow of the Tomb Raider.

In an attempt to stop Trinity, Lara Croft steals an ancient relic, accidentally starting a Mayan apocalypse that she spends the rest of the game trying to stop. Throughout Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara also adapts and learns to take advantage of the jungle for combat and stealth purposes while trying to stop the apocalypse. If you want to learn more about gameplay, you can check out DualShockers’ preview of the game.
