Sea of Thieves Looks Spectacular in New 4K Gameplay: Galleon Race and Xbox One/PC Cross-Play

Today Rare released a brand new gameplay of its upcoming shared world adventure game Sea of Thieves.

The video shows a team of developers at Rare, some playing on Xbox and some on PC in the cross-play technical alpha, as they challenge another crew to a friendly race on the waves of the game’s ocean.

It looks absolutely spectacular, and it’s interesting to see how the crews work together to steer the ship and angle the sails just right to fully take advantage of the changing wind.

Afterwards, they organize a group battle on an island, in some form of funny pirate Olympics, showing just the potential of in gameplay diversity offered by the interaction among players in the game.

As a bonus, the video is in shiny 4k, making the gorgeous painterly visuals of the game stand out even more.

Sea of Thieves will launch in early 2018 for Xbox One, Xbox One X and PC. It was initially supposed to release in 2017, but Rare and Microsoft decided to give the development team a bit longer to cook and season the game properly.
