Impact Gameworks has just announced that their title Tangledeep is finally coming out of Early Access and becoming a fully released game on February 1, 2018. To couple this announcement, they’ve also released a pre-launch trailer to celebrate.

Tangledeep is a roguelike dungeon crawler inspired by the days of 16-bit graphics. The music and art style are inspired by games like Secret of Mana and Chrono Trigger, while the gameplay harkens back to games like Nethack and Diablo with a more modern sense of polish.

Replayability is a big cornerstone to Tangledeep. With procedurally-generated maps, 12 completely unique job classes that are easily switched to, hundreds of items, and 50 monsters to battle and tame, and countless skills, Impact Gameworks claims Tangledeep has dozens of hours of gameplay in one package. The labyrinth the game takes its name from is ever-changing, leaving the player to make strategic choices on what class to run, what skills to choose, and for what situation its called for.

The soundtrack for the game features two styles: a retro SNES-like version, and a modern orchestral version. The orchestral soundtrack has been written largely by programmer/designer Andrew Aversa with contributions from Hiroki Kikuta (Secret of Mana), Grant Kirkhope (GoldenEye 007), and Norihiko Hibino (Metal Gear Solid). A deluxe edition of Tangledeep will include the game’s soundtrack made available on Steam at launch.

Tangledeep will hit full release on Steam on February 1. A Nintendo Switch release is also planned for Q2 2018. In the meantime, check out the “prelaunch trailer” below:
