Next month is a very special month for sports fans, and now you may be wondering why. Did something happen in Baseball? No. Soccer? Of course not. Basketball? Unequivocally, no. Instead, the most important sport, Rocket League will be celebrating its’ fifth birthday. And along with turning five years old, the game’s developers, Psyonix, is prepping another big update for Rocket League. The only question is what else could be brought to the game after five years?

According to a news post from Psyonix on Rocket League‘s website, the update will be arriving later this Summer. In fact, a lot about this update is still under wraps, although it is explicitly stated that Rocket League will be getting “new and updated features” in the second half of 2020. As for celebrating the game’s actual anniversary, Psyonix has prepped a ton of time-exclusive content. The post reads “we are excited to announce that we’ll be celebrating Rocket League‘s fifth Anniversary with a two-week event starting at the end of this month with Limited Time Modes, and Rocket League- and Psyonix-themed items in the event store.” These new items and modes are slated to be revealed over the course of the next few weeks.

To prepare for this major update, the game will be getting a smaller one tomorrow, as well as a new Item Series reveal next week. Rocket League has been one of my go-to’s for years now, ever since I got it for free on my PS4. It’s one of those few and far between evergreen titles, that somehow just never wears off. Psyonix’s continuous support of the game is just one more benefit that Rocket League has under its belt.
