You can almost smell the leather and taste the chewing tobacco at this stage, as we are days away from the highly anticipated release of Red Dead Redemption 2 this Friday, October 26. Rockstar Games thought cowboys and cowgirls needed a little companion on those long and lonely open trails in the form of an app.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App is designed as a secondary map screen, allowing you to zoom in on the map, set waypoints, mark areas of interest in real time, and also access Arthur Morgan’s info, stats, and in-game journal. If you wanted to remove the in-game HUD for a more immersive play through, well you can do all that from the nifty app too.

Rockstar has stated that the app also “provides stat tracking through Social Club, contains the full digital game manual, plus an optional digital version of the Red Dead Redemption 2 Complete Official Guide from Piggyback and more.”

Have you ever wondered how Red Dead Redemption 2 has improved their over-all quality since their last big release, Grand Theft Auto V? You’re in luck, as recently several developers from Rockstar discussed what improvements have been made to Red Dead Redemption 2’s AI at a technical level.

Be sure to enter our giveaway here at DualShockers where we’ll be giving five readers a digital copy of Red Dead Redemption 2 when it releases this Friday, October 26.

Red Dead Redemption 2 Companion App will be available for download on October 26th on both iOS and Android for free.

Red Dead Redemption 2 will release for PS4 and Xbox One on October 26, like you didn’t know! If you’re quick, you still have a chance to pre-order it with release day shipping on Amazon.
