Developer Supergiant Games has added a new way to play the campaign of Pyre with a new free updated titled the “True Nightwing.”

More specifically, the centerpiece of the game’s latest update is new a campaign mode that unlocks after you reach the end of the campaign (if you’ve already beaten the campaign, it will unlock automatically).

The mode is said to be reminiscent of an ‘Ironman’ mode, and amps up the challenge of the game, as well emphasizes many of unique aspects of the campaign, including how the game has no ‘Game-Over’ state, and how your choices and trial outcomes shape the story.

According to Supergiant Games, the mode is designed to enhance playing through the campaign successive times, which itself was designed with replayability in mind with its millions of different event combinations that make for a unique experience with each campaign run.

The following changes made with the mode are outlined:

· Base difficulty same as Heightened.
· All Titan Stars unlocked, and some must be used.
· Enlightenment required to rank up re-scaled.
· Cannot load checkpoints or restart Rites.
· Book of Rites and White Lute fully unlocked.
· Slugmarket inventory fully unlocked.
· Feats of Glory introduced much sooner.
· Note: Once chosen, this setting cannot be changed.

Many of the early tutorials are skippable, which will allow you to get into the thick of things much more quickly.

According to Supergiant Games, the update — which is now available on PC, and coming soon to PS4 — is a thank you to everyone who has supported the game since its launch back in July.

Additionally, alongside the update, two more hours of extra music, in the form of two bonus albums, have been added to the game’s original soundtrack, which is personally the most beautiful soundtrack I’ve heard so far this year.

Pyre is available on PS4, PC, Mac, and Linux for $19.99. As you will know, its impossible for Supergiant Games to make anything but a great game, something our official review illustrates, dishing out the action-RPG an impressive 9.5.
