PS4 Mecha Controller for Border Break Achieves Target Orders and Will Be Released

News, Originals, Platforms, PS4

Just yesterday, we reported about Hori’s controller for Border Break, that will bring to the PS4 a mecha-style joystick reproducing the control scheme of the arcade alongside a mouse.

Today the company announced that the target of 3,000 pre-orders required to actually producing the contraption has been passed much before the deadline of May 2nd.

This means that the controller will indeed be made and released in Japan in 2018.

At the moment, there is no announcement for the west. While Hori normally does release its accessories in North Americ and Europe, it’ll probably depend on whether Border Break itself is localized.

The game by Sega will release in Japan exclusively for PS4 on August 2nd, but Sega has been completely silent about bringing it westwards for the moment. We’ll have to wait and see if an announcement is made in the future.

Personally, I’d definitely like to see Border Break come west, alongside the controller. The PS4 can definitely use a good mouse-controlled shooter, and the arcade version of the game is a whole lot of fun. Here’s hoping.
