While they released only a few weeks ago, Pokemon Sword & Shield have already proven themselves as a hit with the series breaking records for both the Pokemon series and Switch titles as a whole. With the new titles introducing the region of Galar, a new animated series debuting early next year will give viewers a closer look at the region and the characters and Pokemon that inhabit it called Twilight Wings.

The Pokemon Company has announced that a new 7-part animated web series will be coming in January 2020 called Pokemon: Twilight Wings. The series itself will air on the official Pokemon YouTube channel, and each episode will be approximately five minutes long. The first episode will debut on January 15, 2020, with later episodes to follow after.

According to The Pokemon Company, Twilight Wings will “show in detail the dreams of Galar’s residents, the realities they face, the challenges they must overcome and the conflicts they must resolve.” Alongside taking us on the journey of new characters to the Pokemon series, the company also started that “fans can expect to see a variety of Pokemon originally discovered in the Galar region appearing in the capsule series.”

Pokemon: Twilight Wings is being developed and animated by Studio Colorido, which was previously known for producing the animated film Penguin Highwayi, and is being directed by Shingo Yamashita. Alongside the announcement, The Pokemon Company also revealed the key art for the series, which shows watercolor-style art of two characters overlooking the Galar region in a whimsical, colorful way.

While players of Sword & Shield already got a grand introduction to the Galar region last month, Pokemon: Twilight Wings sounds like it will offer fans of the series an even deeper look into this wonderful new region when it airs next month on YouTube.

Pokemon Sword & Shield are available now exclusively on Nintendo Switch, and you can pick up either version of the game now over on Amazon. You can check out the key art from the upcoming Pokemon: Twilight Wings below:
