Nintendo revealed today that more information on Pokemon Sword and Shield will be revealed through a Pokemon Direct. The announcement was made simultaneously on the various Nintendo official Twitter accounts.

The new Pokemon Direct will be happening on June 5, at 6.00AM PT, 9.00 AM ET. It will last around 15 minutes and reveal plenty of new information on Pokemon Sword and Shield.

15 minutes is long enough for us to see a new trailer and probably actual gameplay footage. The initial reveal for Pokemon Sword and Shield already detailed the new region and the starter pokemon.  Taking this into account, this time, we should probably hear about possible new game systems. We might see some of the champions, rivals, and hear more about the lore surrounding the 8th generation of Pokemon as well.

This is quite interesting as Nintendo decided to reveal more on the next main Pokemon games right before E3. Meaning Pokemon Sword and Shield probably won’t be making much of an appearance on the special E3 Nintendo Direct. News on Pokemon Sword and Shield have been pretty scarce since the original reveal, besides the naming contest happening in Japan.

Pokemon Sword and Shield are scheduled to launch in late 2019 exclusively on Nintendo Switch.

Update: A Pokemon Press conference will also be held on May 28, detailing the commercial strategy of Pokemon games in 2019.
