PlayStation Boss Pledges Focus on “Best Place to Play”, “Different Vision” About Games-as-a-Service

A few hours ago, a new Twitter account was opened for the new President of Sony Interactive Entertainment John Kodera, who took Andrew House’s place back in October.

Kodera-san immediately started interacting with the fans, and pledged his focus on continuing the legacy of the best place to play, thanking the PlayStation community for its support and passion.

Responding to a fan who asked to continue to make great single player games instead of focusing too much on Games-as-a-Service, Kodera-san pledged that Sony’s vision is “totally different,” also mentioning that he will do his best to continue the “excellent work” done by his predecessor.

Incidentally, his very first tweet was to thank Andrew House.

This might bring relief to those who were worried about a statement made during a recent investor conference call by Chief Financial Officer Kenichiro Yoshida, who mentioned that under Kodera-san’s leadership the company would have explored possibilities offered by the sale of in-game content.

Sony Interactive Entertainment America President Shawn Layden also pledged the company’s dedication to single-player games at PlayStation Experience.

If you want to hear more from Kodera-san, you can check out a recording of his first public appearance at the PlayStation Awards in Tokyo.
