Nintendo has continued with its strange 2020 trend of randomly announcing new first-party games for the Switch without any warning whatsoever.

At the top of this most recent hour, Nintendo took to social media and announced that a new iteration of the Wii U game Pikmin 3 will soon be coming to the Switch on October 30. This version of the title, which is called Pikmin 3 Deluxe, follows the same naming convention as the Switch re-releases of Mario Kart 8 and New Super Mario Bros. U on the platform.

As for what Pikmin 3 is said to contain that is different from its predecessor, Nintendo states that it will feature “multiple difficulty modes, new side-story missions featuring Olimar & Louie, and all the DLC from the original release.” Much like other Switch ports, it seems to be a modest upgrade from the Wii U version that came before it. Still, big-time Pikmin fans will surely appreciate these new updates to the game.

This announcement from Nintendo comes at an interesting time as many have been expecting a new Direct from the company for quite some time. However, given that Nintendo instead opted to just announce this out of nowhere, it would lead us to believe that the publisher has no new Direct lined up any time soon. Otherwise, you would imagine that this reveal would have taken place during such an event. So if you’ve been crossing your fingers for a major new Nintendo Direct for quite some time now, maybe you’d be best off dashing those expectations.

As for Pikmin 3 Deluxe itself, you can check out the game’s reveal trailer down below.
