Picross S is a popular series of nonogram puzzles developer Jupiter has been putting out on Nintendo Switch over the last few years. Picross S4 is the latest in the long line of no-nonsense Picross games. While the game lacks cool novelties like Picross 3D or an engaging story mode like Murder by Numbers, it makes up for that with some of the finest Picross puzzles that you can play on-the-go. Obviously, some of those more “out-there” Picross games are going to appeal to a larger audience. But, for hardcore Picross puzzlers, Picross S is one of the best ways for you to get your fix. I should know, as I happen to live with one. Give the new trailer a look below.

Again, the Picross S series is pretty barebones if you’re looking for anything other than pure Picross. Jupiter has four different solving modes and they’re all returning for S4. They’re also adding in several gigantic-sized puzzles in a new “Extras” section. For buying Picross S4, you’ll unlock four, but if you’ve cleared any of the other games in the series, you’ll get access to even more puzzles. In total, there are 485 new puzzles coming in Picross S4. The biggest new functionality updates are a few changes to multiplayer mode and more options for assigning your square color. But really, all you need to know is that more Picross is coming and coming soon.

My wife is a Picross monster, so I know how much the community loves these games. When the game launches next week, I won’t see my Switch for weeks. Sorry Animal Crossing, it was fun knowing you! If you’ve never tried a Picross game out, I highly recommend you give this a look. The Picross S games aren’t quite as good as some of the more inventive Picross games, but they’re still well-worth your time.

Picross S4 launches on Nintendo Switch April 23.
