Overwatch’s Latest Developer Update Details Annual Story-Driven Event, Overwatch Archives; Starts with “Retribution”

While Overwatch is a solely multiplayer experience, the game has been known for providing players with a deep lore thanks to its rich cast of characters, and now Blizzard will provide players with more chances to understand the world and history of Overwatch.

In the latest Developer Update video from Blizzard, the company revealed some details about its plans to introduce yearly story-driven events with a focus on diving into the backstory of Overwatch‘s world and characters, like what we saw from last year’s “Uprising” event.

Specifically, Blizzard explained that this series of events will be called “Overwatch Archives,” and the springtime event will dive into a new segment of the game’s lore during each iteration. This time around, the upcoming event will be called “Retribution,” though no other specific details were provided as to what character(s) it may focus on. However, the event seems like it will only be a week away, so we don’t have too much longer to wait until we know more about it.
